In a strange way
Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 5:21PM this relates to the previous post. At least to my mind.
But, it might have a lot to do with growing up in an Italian-Catholic neighborhood in Chicago. Without even being aware of it, I soaked up as much Catholicism as most of my friends. I can't really explain it. I also soaked up an appreciation for home-style Italian cooking. That one is easier to explain, since my mother was raised in the spice-free zone of Iowa. (Unless you count Lawry's Seasoned Salt as a spice. I don't. I think of Lawry's as a punishment for some heinous previous life, but I have a lot of personal work I still need to do in that area of my life...) It was easy to gravitate to good Italian cooking when the alternative was Velveeta & Skippy peanut butter sandwiches.
But, I digress. This is a recent drawing from my sketchbook. No real rhyme or reason. Just thought it fit.
with love, Brian
